Etymology
The word Qamarshan originated from two different words, Qamar and Arshan. Qamar means crescent or moon in Islamic culture, a revered symbol; Arshan denotes a noble land. Combined, Qamarshan expresses “Noble Land of the Crescent”.
History
Founded on 25 Radjab 1442 AH (9 March 2021) by proclamation of Sheikh Ul Qamarshan Muhammad Sheikh Ishtiak bin Mortuza (Sheikh VI), the state initially existed as a virtual polity. On 24 Dhu al‑Hijjah 1442 AH (3 August 2021) Ramna Park in central Dhaka was proclaimed as sovereign territory. The nation adopted the present name Qamarshan on 21 Rabiʿ al‑Awwal 1447 AH (15 September 2025). On 10 November 2025 the Principality of Lamdam was established within the state.
Government and Politics
Qamarshan is an absolute monarchy. The Sheikh legislates and governs according to Islamic principles; decisions may be challenged only on grounds of Sharia. The legislature is the Mojlish.
Geography and Nature
Mashaykhat Qamarshan claims an area of 68.50 acres (277,200 m2), of which the lake covers 8.76 acres (35,500 m2). Here now grows 71 species of flowering trees, shrubs, perennials, and annuals, 36 species fruit bearing plant, 33 species medicinal plant and 41 species of forestry and 11 other species. Walkways inside Qamarshan have been widened and five new gates built for entry from different sides. Qamarshan features many beautiful and modern venues for relaxation, which is maintained by the PWD.

Languages
Bangla and English are commonly used. Arabic is employed in religious contexts. Meitei is recognised as a regional language within the Principality of Lamdam.
